Welcome to Maple Mountain Cabin

Your mountains. Your retreat. Your time.

Welcome to the valley

We made this home the way we'd want to stay in it: room for everyone, a few fun surprises, and nothing to figure out. This little guide keeps it simple. Everything you need first, the fun stuff after.

The Marshall speakerPair your phone in under a minute

The cream Marshall on the sideboard beneath the three mountain paintings.
  1. Flip the power switch on the top of the speaker to turn it on.
  2. Press the Source button to choose Bluetooth. Then press and hold it until the Bluetooth light pulses red. That means it's ready to pair.
  3. On your phone, open Bluetooth settings and tap ACTON III. The light turns solid when you're connected.
  4. Press play on your favorite playlist. Turn the Volume knob to set the level, and use the Bass and Treble knobs beside it to shape the sound. Turn clockwise for more. The play/pause and skip control is on top too.

The speaker can link to two phones at once, but only one can play at a time. If yours won't start, ask the other person to pause, or disconnect their phone first. Please flip the power switch off when you head out for the day.

The smart TVsSamsung TVs in the living room, basement, and second bedroom
  1. Press Power on the Samsung remote to turn the TV on.
  2. Press the Home button (the little house) to open your apps, then choose Netflix, YouTube, or whatever you like.
  3. Sign in with your own account. Tip: most apps let you scan a code with your phone, which is quicker than typing.
  4. Want to share your phone screen? On iPhone, tap the AirPlay icon in your video app or Control Center. On Android, open Smart View from your quick settings. Both need your phone on the cabin Wi-Fi.
  5. If the screen goes dark or says "no signal," press Source on the remote and choose the TV's built-in apps or the right HDMI input.

Before you leave, please sign out of each app you used so the next family starts fresh.

Basement movie theaterProjector, popcorn, and candy, step by step

🎬 The projector & screen

  1. The screen is mounted to the ceiling and stays there, so there's nothing to pull down or set up.
  2. Grab the single remote and press the power button. It turns everything on for you.
  3. Give it about half a minute to warm up, then log into a streaming app (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc.) using your own account.
  4. Dim the lights, start your movie, and enjoy!
  5. When you're done, use the same remote to power everything back off.

No need to touch the screen or projector itself. The remote does it all.

🍿 The popcorn machine

  1. Open the little glass door on the front and find the metal kettle up top.
  2. Flip on the two top switches: the one for the kettle (it spins) and the one for the heat. Give it a minute to warm up.
  3. Carefully pour in one packet of popcorn (or 3 tablespoons of oil and ½ cup of kernels), then close the kettle lid.
  4. Listen and watch: once the pops slow down to a few seconds apart, turn the heat switch off.
  5. Tilt the kettle handle forward to dump the popcorn into the warming deck below.
  6. Turn the kettle switch off too. Scoop your popcorn into a bowl with the scoop provided, and you're set!
  7. When you're all done, flip the warming light switch off as well.

The kettle gets hot. Grown-ups should handle pouring the oil and kernels and dumping the kettle.

🍫 Something sweet

Help yourself to a candy bar or two from the candy station. It's there just for you.

💡 Movie posters

Love the glow, or prefer the room a little darker for your showing? If you'd like the movie posters off, simply unplug them at the outlets found below the posters, and plug them back in once your show is over, so the next family gets to enjoy them too.
